The main objectives of the “Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protectionof Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1996 enacted by the Government of India onJanuary 1, 1996 is to create barrier free environment for persons with disabilities andto make special provisions for theintegration of persons with disabilities into the socialmainstream. Recalling the principles proclaimed in the Charter of the India which recognize the inherent dignity and worth and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
Vasantidevi Patil Institute of Pharmacy, is committed to creating a healthy working & study environment. Students & faculties have the right to work without fear of prejudice, bias and harassment regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, race or religion. The institute also believes that all students and faculties have the right to be treated with dignity.Considering these points, a committee comprising the following members is formed to look after & treat any cases of harassment, particularly of physically disabled students or faculties, at the work place or other then work place.
Objective
The purpose of the committee concerning Disabled Persons is to promote effective measures for prevention of disability, rehabilitation and the realization of the goals of” full participation” of disabled persons in social life and development, and of” equality”.
To offer the opportunities equal to those of the whole population and an equal share in the improvement in living conditions resulting from social and economic development.
Concepts should apply with the same scope and with the same urgency to all countries, regardless of their level of development.
